WASTE 1.5 and 1.7 Key Exchange

Step 0.

Get WASTE.

IMPORTANT: Waste 1.7 is out and *breaks* Waste 1.6. If you're using Waste 1.6 you should upgrade to Waste 1.7.

Step 1.

Copy the following keys into your WASTE install.

You can download my entire public key list at: http://wasteserver.no-ip.org:1338/Tristero.pr3 - it's always up to date (so you can use it to check if I've added your key yet). Import it as a text file into your Waste Public Key list.

Step 2.

Post your public key and IP address (or dyndns/no-ip domain) in the comment box.

If you're behind a firewall, make sure the proper ports are forwarded, otherwise you'll only be able to make outgoing connections.

There is no network name/password - this is a nullnet.

Step 3.

Wait a few days for a few people to add your keys

Leave your WASTE client running, even if nothing seems to be happening.

If you posted your IP address / dyndns address I will try to connect to you once I've added your key. If you don't, you'll have to check back and see when I've added you.

Notes

I've noticed that a lot of people are connecting *only* to me. For one reason or another, I'm not on 100% of the time, and I notice that if I drop out for even a second, 1/3 of the network disappears. This is because you're only connecting to me - to maintain a robust network, please make an effort to connect to each other too.

Maintain at least 4 or 5 connections (View > Network Status). Otherwise if I shut off my computer you're dropped from the network.
Periodically broadcast your public key on the network (File > Preferences > Private Key>
Similarly, always accept incoming keys and rebroadcast them. (File > Preferences > Pending Keys) If you don't do these thee steps you won't be able to connect to anyone else, and if I drop out, you'll lose connection to the network.
Very high levels of encryption (higher than the default) slow your speed down considerably as the encryption overhead takes over. The default level of encryption is fine.
